How to achieve "Pearl Effect" finish in joinery production

Pearl Effect Finish
Hello there,

In this short guide we will explain how to achieve "pearl effect" finish in joinery production.

In our case we prepared an MDF panel by sanding it with 150mm 180 grit sanding discs. Once MDF was prepared we applied our 877 Line primer (877FB44TX). Before application of first topcoat we sanded the panel again (to key in) with 150mm 240 grit sanding discs. For the first topcoat we chose PU topcoat G/CP558 in anthracite colour (RAL7016).

And now the main part - "Pearl Effect".

We applied first coat of "pearl effect" coating as any other topcoat. Once finished we turned the pressure on our spray gun to minimum and applied droplets of the same coating on still fresh first coat. There you have it, "pearl effect" achieved.

To achieve other sheen, additional coat of clear lacquer can be applied as well.

Please note, "pearl effect" coating is not a stock item, it's a special order item and the lead time is approx. 2 weeks. Contact us for more details.

Have a look at below video for step by step instruction and to see how "pear effect" coating is being applied.
